Located inside one of the five mosques in Hong Kong, the Osman Ramju Sadick Islamic Centre was built in Wan Chai in 1981. The eight-story building offers local Muslims a great place to gather and pray and Jaman Markar, a local Hong Kong-Muslim, established the Islamic Centre Canteen about eight years ago.
The restaurant serves Halal Chinese Cuisine, making up to 30 types of Dim Sum, over 80 varieties of Chinese and Xinjiang dishes. It has simple interiors but seats around 150 people, and the white fluorescent lights and large open windows bring a lively energy to the minimal space.
Next to the entrance, a huge Dim sum cart showcases the freshly made Dim Sum in bamboo steamer baskets. With a warmer underneath and high turnover rate, food is always freshly made. In the middle are the china teapots, cutlery and big flasks with hot water for fragrant tea like Iron Buddha, Peony and Jasmine.
